Creating small upcycled assemblages of bird sculptures out of found objects.“What else could this old broken umbrella potentially become?”
There is a need to try and reuse as much ‘junk’ as possible, creatively transforming something and ultimately giving those objects a new meaningful life.
Muninn of Odin, Raven
Assemblage of all things. Bringing news and wisdom. This character is extremely crafty and very loyal and good at remembering things.
Odin had two ravens, Huginn and Muninn, thought and memory.
Muninn is a free standing sculptural artwork.
Dimensions are length 32 cm x width 20 cm x height 25 cm.
Made from an old pair of scissors, drawing compass, inner tube, fabric, chicken wire, jewellery and a broken umbrella for wings. Held together with wire and mounted on a piece of driftwood. Repurpose, re-invent, re-love.

"Cheep Cheep" Pīwakawaka, Fantail
Flitting from branch to branch this little fantail is loved in New Zealand.
In a flutter of wings and using his very impressive tail, he flushes out bugs to eat, darting around the trees in circles. Bold and fearless and charming.
Cheep Cheep, is made from an upcycled protractor to measure angles of flight, a brooch and coconut clasp. All wrapped around a light bulb and some metal, with canvas wings and tail. He is perched on a driftwood branch decorated with flowers, beads and a heart. Dimension width 30cm x height 35cm x depth20cm

Colonel Mustard, To The Rescue
Colonel Mustard, well known in the old style gaming world of Cluedo.
He is perched on an old mustard tin and has a light bulb for a head, as he is full of bright ideas.
Col Mustard to the rescue, with his lemon bag, perhaps from too many G&Ts, but holding himself together by string and wire, He is a bit rusty round the edges. Aged well.

Spoon full of Sugar, She is sweet as!
She is proud and pink. So she might measure you up, but she thinks she is practically perfect in every way.
Balancing on a vintage spoon from Hastings and a china tea pot lid.
Assembled together are a torch, tape measure, shuttle cock and jewellery. With the odd nut and bolt, she is unique and good for the planet.

North Shore Wading, Ebb and Flow
Keeping a beady eye on the shore line, through the ebb and flow of tides, this long legged wading bird is patient, waiting for a little fish supper or a crab for breakfast. So to help him, I have collect bits of plastic stuff off the beach, like old washing pegs, ice cream scoops and a pair of goggles. He also has a temperature gauge as a leg to see how chilly the water is, brrr!

Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Warrior Bird.
The world is a jumble and this little bird is made from all sorts of jumble, bits of string and rainbow coloured beads, computer wires, fabric, some plastic decorations and champagne wire bottle top with of course a nuclear free emblem. Skies are blue beneath her with a little friend, a rainbow ladybird. Both standing on a glass teapot, it is a fragile world, but it has a little magic star of hope inside. With love from the nest of creativity.

Messy Ferguson, Little Red Tractor. (Sold)
Since the 1950’s New Zealand has loved the Massey Ferguson tractor. This has become iconic and loved, appearing in many artworks. The older tractors now hang out at the bach waiting for the fishing trips to haul boats in and out of the water. Conjuring up the memories of summer and holidays with family.
This is Messy Ferguson, main inspiration a toy tractor, he is in bits but holding it together. He has springs for when you need a lift, an old pencil, jandals, fuse-wire, lightbulb (full of good ideas), a beer cap, its thirsty work and of course some Number 8 Wire which fixes most problems!
Striding along with a job to get on with, mounted on a piece of ply wood washed up and a tumbled brick. Ready for anything and full of tales..One of a kind.

Mother Knows Best, has the key to everything, springs back to assist but feet are firmly on the ground. Big heart and the badge of an angel.
She has pieces of a puzzle, a handbag and might have a wine cork and a disco ball too.
All found and upcycled objects, she stands on a driftwood block with a tin lid base. Unique of course, one of a kind.
